While the main building dates back to 1920, the houses history can be traced all the way back to 1472. Over the years, powerful nobles from the lines of Daa and Hvide have called this their home. The main building consists of 500 well-decorated square metres spread over three floors, including three elegant stuccowork living rooms with original stoves that create the perfect framework for family celebrations, company events, or cosy evenings with family and friends. The lower floor houses a rustic hunting room where you can relax in front of an open fire after a long walk or a good lunch. A 150 m2, activity room (unheated) in one of the wings houses an indoor sandpit for the very young and also contains a climbing rope, table tennis, air hockey, indoor football and other activity equipment. From the dining room there is access to a delightful, well-designed park with plenty of space for children to play, characterised by rare trees and a variety of animal life. The surrounding area is ideal for a picnic - simply follow one of the private tracks that lead out past a large swathe of marshland and you can enjoy your lunch on the banks of one of the numerous small lakes. Hønnerup Hovgård is ideally located in relation to this regions many sights and attractions. These include Egeskov Castle, where you can take a stroll on the treetop walkway or try to find your way out of the labyrinth. Other attractions include the former home of Hans Christian Andersen and Fun Park Fyn, an amusement park offering a wealth of activities for young and old alike. This holiday home is also a good starting point for a day trip further afield - Copenhagen, Legoland and the North Sea coastline are all within reach. For those who prefer more relaxing outings, an attractive beach can be reached in just ten minutes by car.
