Nestled in the Dronne valley is the tiny tranquil hamlet of Joubertias where you will find le Cheval Blanc. Once a barn and later an auberge, today le Cheval Blanc is the ultimate in luxury self catering accommodation. We have made sure that all you really need to bring with you is your swimming costume and a toothbrush!

We have owned Le Cheval Blanc since late 2002. We completed our extensive renovations in July 2003 when we opened our doors to welcome our first guests. We were excited and nervous and hoped that they would like le Cheval Blanc as much as we do. We need not have worried. All our guests loved it!

We will happily provide as many travel cots and additional beds where possible. Please just contact us to discuss your requirements. We have high chairs too for our little guests.

We aim to help your travel by keeping your luggage requirements to a minimum. If we don't mention it on our website, please ask. We probably have whatever you want and will do our best to provide it if we haven't.

Accommodation:

7 bedrooms all en suite which can all be either twins or doubles (quality linen and towels all supplied).

Spectacular open plan ground floor area with big squashy sofas and a cosy log burner for our winter guests, an entertainment centre with satellite TV, DVD and Video – including a comprehensive library of tapes and DVDs, stereo system and widescreen television.

New luxury kitchen with a range cooker, microwave and dishwasher. The kitchen has all the pots, pans, crockery, cutlery and equipment to produce everything from beans on toast to a spectacular gourmet meal

Large dining area to seat everyone, including any extra guests who might be joining you.

There is a private 10m x 5m swimming pool situated in a lovely walled garden. The pool complies fully with all the new EU regulations. There are plenty of sunbeds so sunbathe to your heart’s content or settle down to a good book under a parasol. There is a shady corner there to protect the sensitive skin of some our younger guests.

Life out of doors would of course not be the same without a barbecue, so there is a large gas one and also a gas fired patio heater for use on cooler evenings.

There is a a fridge in one of the pool buildings where you can store your beers, wine and soft drinks and also your lunch! There are plenty of unbreakable plates and glasses there too.


Just to fill you in a bit about the area, Joubertias is a tiny hamlet in the heart of the Perigord Vert in the north west Dordogne. There are activities to suit everyone and lots of interesting places to visit. The warm sunny climate is perfect for active pursuits, sightseeing, shopping or just lazing around the pool. Of course, this is France and this region is no exception when it comes to being famous for food – especially fois gras, truffles, walnuts and hazelnuts to name but a few – and there are simply loads of restaurants.

The nearby market in the town of Riberac on a Friday morning is the largest in the Dordogne.

You can go mountain biking, canoeing, riding, fishing, walking, play tennis or golf or even go swimming in the river if the fancy takes you!

The area is steeped in history and there are countless churches, prehistoric caves, ancient towns, villages, chateaux and vineyards to visit….and the wine! Who could forget the wine? This area lies between the major wine growing areas of Bordeaux and Bergerac and it’s not far to the world famous Cognac. Good wines at reasonable prices assured!
