Brottens lodge cottage is situated in an idyllic rural location with far reaching southerly views over looking miles of unspoilt countryside. It used to be a coach house to an old shooting lodge, and is situated behind the main house. It faces south away from it and is very private. It has a terrace through french doors from the sitting room, and there is a garden table and chairs on which to enjoy summer evenings with a glass of wine. There is a small heated outdoor swimming pool which is yours all day during term time and is shared with the owners in the evenings and school holidays. There are large gardens with a formal Italian garden and a new kitchen garden being built this spring.
There are horses whom you are welcome to give a carrot to or go for a ride on. Chickens live in the orchard and love to be fed scraps and you can collect their eggs for breakfast.
We also have two small terriers. Dogs are welcome guests but we do charge £10 per week each.
We love having children to stay, and have two of our own. There are lots of books, toys and videos in the cottage. There is a travel cot and high chair. There is a wendy house in the grounds to play in and lots of local attractions to visit. Longleat is nearby, with the safari and lots of animals and attractions. So to is the lovely Stourhead. Wookey hole and Cheddar Caves are very close, and Wells and Bath are both worth a visit. There are farmers markets in most of the local towns and a very good farm shop with local produce, three miles away. Both the Dorset and Somerset coasts are about an hour's drive.
