' Podere Le Ghiande ' is a typical Tuscan agritourism, wich was restructured
and furnished according to its original architecture and the local
tradition.
It is 4 Km far from Castell'Azzara ( Grosseto ), in the middle of the
regional natural reservation of Monte Penna, which lies between Val D'Orcia
( Orcia Valley ) and the Maremma.
The Podere is situated at 700 m. of altitude; it is surrounded by private
gardens and it is submerged in an infinity of natural meadows, oak-woods,
chestnut-trees, beeches and coniferous-trees.
The Podere Le Ghiande has a central building called ' Il Podere ' and two
dependance called ' Il Fienile and Granaio ' . They are organized in
apartments and studios ( max. 25 a 30 bedrooms ); a common hall provided of
a fireplace, Tv, armchairs, tables and can be used by all the guests .It is
also present a 15 x 8 swimming pool ( can be used only by our guests ).
Podere Le Ghiande is ideal for a ' green vacation ' to relax completely and
to participate in hikes, biking exursion or to horse-ridings in the middle
of the natural reservation's endless lanes.
Thanks to position, historical and cultural trips to the following locations
are recommended: Monte Amiata, Pitigliano, Sorano, Sovana, Etruscan
necropolis, Bolsena's lake, Pienza, Montalcino, Montepulciano, Terme di
Saturnia ( All locations can be reached by 20 - 30 minutes bus ride ).
Moreover, The Podere le Ghiande is close to the ' Via Francigena ' wich
makes it easy to reach the most important historical cities in Central Italy
( Firenze, Roma, Siena, Perugia, Viterbo, Orvieto). If you are lovers of
good cuisine and traditional simple but strong Tuscan tastes, you will
easily find typical restaurants in this location that have conventions with
us.
THE HOSPITALITY
' Podere Le Ghiande ' is a typical Tuscan Farm house, wich was restructured and furnished according to its original architecture and the local tradition.
It is constituted by a central structure " Il Podere " and from two dependance " Il Fienile " and
" Il Granaio ".
Our receptiveness is of 25 / 30 places bed, there are apartments of several size.
SERVICES
All the apartments are endowed whith external space and relative furniture.
Inside the farm, the old stall has been turned into a pleasant common room with fireplace, TV satellitare, armchairs and tables, small enoteca for tasting of local wines.
The kitchens of all the apartments are completely equiped.

THE HOLIDAY
The farm is situated on a tall hill ( 720 meters altitude ), in the middle of the Regional Park of Penna mountain, between the Val of Orcia and Maremma, it is surrounded by private gardens, natural lawns and Mediterranean woods.
The farm is a perfect place for people who need relax, to walk, to bike and to ride along the endless paths that surround it.
For the peculiar position, cultural excursions are possible in the surrounding towns :
Pitigliano, Sorano, Sovrana, Pienza, Montepulciano, Montalcino, Orvieto,Lake of Bolsena, Thermal baths of Saturnia or San Casciano,Bagno Vignoni , San Filippo, Amiata mountain ( all the places are attainable by car in 20/30 minutes ).
Being the Farm near the street Francigena ( today SS 2 Cassia ) is also possible to make excursions to the great historical cities of central Italy ( Siena, Florence, Rome, Perugia, Viterbo ).
If you lovers of the simple tastes of the famous "Tuscan cuisine ", you will easily find it in the villages, inns enothecheand restaurants selected by us.
LE GHIANDE Castell'Azzara (Grosseto)
The property Le Ghiande consists of a manor house and a well restored barn, which have been divided into 5 studios and 3 apartments. Its position, in the midst of green woods that invite for relaxing walks, is very quiet and offers a a nice view overlooking the countryside. In the grounds around the houses there is a swimming pool, and a spacious room with fireplace and old wood oven on the ground floor of the manor house can be used by the guests as well. At Castell'Azzara (3,7 km), characteristic village overlooking the Paglia valley, you find various shops. In ancient times this area was populated by the Etruscans and in the surroundings you still find several places with etruscan origins, for example the beautiful town of Sovana (25 km). In half an hour drive you can reach the typical medieval villages of Pienza, Montepulciano and Montalcino (excellent red wines). Also the spa resorts of Saturnia and the Bolsena Lake (both approx. 35 km) are worth a trip. All the apartments are tastefully furnished in the typical Tuscan style and have their own outdoor area.
