Here you can spend your holidays in perfect lakeside tranquility. We invite you to sleep and wake to the natural sounds of wind, birds and water.
Just an hour's drive west from Faro airport, with easy access to all the coastal amenities of the Algarve's south and west coasts, the house is ideally situated for all those interested in golf, horse riding, fresh or salt water swimming, windsurfing, trail biking, jeep safaris, sailing. . . or a whole host of quiet pastimes like painting, bird watching, fishing or just relaxing in total peace and quiet.
The nearest town is Lagos, with it's cobbled streets, traditional market places and historical fort.There is a new Marina where we have our own schooner, the 50 ton 66ft Isaura, with which we explore the Algarvian coast, famous as the birthplace of some of the world's notable early navigators.
A new network of tarred rural roads gives easy access to Monchique, whose foothills rise behind the water margins of the lake's northern shore. The Dog Spine hills and the Costa Vincentina, a National Reserve encompassing rugged cliffs and beaches of great beauty lie 20 minutes to the west.
The clarity of the air and the remedial scent of eucalyptus in the cool of the morning ensure that all who visit come away physically and spiritually revitalized.
The main house is close to the village of Odiaxere, idyllically situated in a forested area just 50m above "˜Bravura' "“ the wild lake. The water temperature is far warmer than the sea, and we have been drinking it for 10 years without coming to harm. There are no dangerous animals or fish in the lake, so it's safe for children under parental supervision.
A water beetle - a yellow plastic boat - with paddles is available for exploring, and soon there will be dinghies and catamarans available to rent with instruction if required. The surroundings allow hours of uninterrupted walks, and many people come to the lake for fishing (carp and bass) and bird watching. There are no other houses in the immediate vicinity, so you are ensured a peaceful holiday.
Lagos is15 minutes distant, and the nearest restaurant lies only seven minutes away where you can eat chicken pukara overlooking the water and watch the sunset.
The new motorway from the airport right to Lagos has made the western Algarve more accessible, and the lake area is linked by new roads to a whole variety of unspoilt beaches and upland areas with tremendous views over the littoral.
There are 6 units available, all en-suite, 3 self-catering mini apartments and three bedrooms. All have panoramic views, while the Tower room comes with a private balcony and the Courtyard room opens onto the fountain area.
Double occupancy; a single extra foldaway bed can be provided.
Each bathroom has a sink, toilet, bidet and shower or shower/bath.
Windows or doors have fly screens to allow sleeping with fresh air
Ample wardrobe space
Breakfast is placed in the courtyard for you so whatever time you rise you can eat. It will consist of:
Fresh rolls, with spread, jams, flasks of hot water with tea and coffee, sugar and milk,
together with fruit such as oranges, apples or bananas. Cereal is provided for children.
A kiddicot can be provided

Apartments
Double occupancy
East apartment has 2 singles and a double sofa bed suitable for an adult or two children;
West apartment has two singles and can accommodate an extra single foldaway bed;
Central Apartment has two singles and a single sofa bed. Another folding bed can be put up.
Kiddicots can be fitted in all rooms.
An electric generator provides power to the accommodations and is turned on only in the evenings until 10 pm. It's a little like being on Safari!
Stoves run on gas. There is a large gas fridge for the use of the apartments.
Upon arrival guests will find a few basic provisions: bread, spread, milk, jam and of course a bottle of wine!
Bed-sheets are changed once per week, towels every third day. Large beach towels can also be supplied, but are not for use by the lake. The red soil of the region contains a dye which is difficult to remove.......Beware!
