Description of the Property - Vacation Home Pascoso

Casa O is a 19th-century, fully restored, stone house with three floors (100 square metres approximately)
located in the village of Pascoso (district of Pescaglia, province of Lucca,Tuscany), in the Apuane Park, 2321 feet above sea level.
In short, the house is made up of: 1 large kitchen with fireplace, 1 living room (with a sofa bed), 2 bedrooms (1 queen-bed room and 1 twin-bed room), 1 bathroom (shower), and 1 laundry (pantry) room. The front door takes you into the hall, where there are the kitchen (on the left side), the living room (on the right) and the stairs, which leads to the upstairs bedrooms and bathroom. The house is nestled on a hill, with three floors on one side and two on the other; therefore at the ground floor there is another room (with independent entrance) which is used for a laundry. From the patio, you can go to the private garden (approximately 100 square metres), where there are a table, chairs, sun-umbrella, and BBQ.
The house is fully furnished with all new or antique pieces (Tuscan pieces from the 18th and 19th centuries). We have provided a television (satellite), DVD, radio and CD player. Unfortunately, we have not yet installed a telephone (there is a public phone in town if you don't have a mobile), but telephone, computer, and internet access are available at our office (not more than 50 metres away). A central heating system (oil-fired) has also been installed. And, naturally, a working fireplace adorns the kitchen, as how would a mountain house be complete without one!

Location, Surrounding Area & Lesiure - Vacation Home Pascoso, Italy

    Location - Vacation Home Pascoso

Pascoso's finest asset, and the most important reason to travel there, is the nature in which it is literally immersed. In many ways, the surrounding mountains and age-old trees are wild and untouched, the dense thickets grow untamed and the canyons, crossed by mule tracks, curl open to reveal sweet pastures where one can lie down in the soft, mountain sun. Pascoso is a hiker's paradise, from short strolls in the hillsides with your children or dog, stopping to taste cool water at a natural spring, to longer hikes, where you can walk all day long without meeting a soul and sleep overnight in one of the many shelters that dot the valley. Many of the mule paths are suitable for mountain bikes and horses, which you can rent in Pascoso. For some hikes you might want to drive a few short minutes to your point of departure, whereas for others, you can leave directly on foot from your front door. And clearly, for visitors with off-road vehicles, the opportunities are endless. A section of the Turrite Stream is reserved for fishing. Trout abound, although, given the low levels of the water, they generally do not grow to be very large. Further downstream, the Turrite flows into a large, artificial basin where the fish are less numerous, but much bigger. As you may have already imagined, the only sounds you'll hear in Pascoso are dogs barking and townsfolk chatting. Quiet reigns through the mountainside. The area is ideal for hiking, horseback riding (there are two barns where you can rent horses), and biking. In mid-August, Pascoso organizes a parade dedicated to the Madonna, in which a statue of the Holy Mother is carried high on a canopy throughout the town.

    Arrival

For reaching Pascoso, you must before arrive to Lucca . If you arrive from North Italy (Milan) or from South Italy (Rome) you must take the highway A1 - from Milan to Rome- and reach Florence (direction South and North, respectively) and then (at Florence North) you take ( without leaving the motorway A1) the MOTORWAY to PISA NORTH (in Italian language : Pisa Nord). After approximately 50 kilometres you reach LUCCA, and you go out of the motorway (either exit Lucca west [LUCCA OVEST] or Lucca East [LUCCA EST] are OK). At Lucca you must take the state road 12 (SS 12) directions ABETONE/GARFAGNANA (there are several road signs, also at the exits of motorway). You reach PONTE A MORIANO (5-6 Km from Lucca) and you turn left always following the direction Abetone/Garfagnana. You find four (4) tunnels, and approximately 1 Km after the fourth tunnel, you must turn right (direction BORGO A MOZZANO). After approximately 3 Km, we will reach DIECIMO (5 minutes of driving), and 200 meters after the road sign "Diecimo" (placed on the right hand of the road) you find before a Tamoil gasoline pump (on the left side of the road) and then, after another 100 meters, you must turn left (direction on the road sign: "PESCAGLIA"). There is only one asphalt road: you reach before Pescaglia (8-10 km from Diecimo) and then Pascoso (6-7 km from Pescaglia). ESTIMATED TIME FOR REACHING PASCOSO FROM LUCCA : 45-60 minutes.
If you have a GPS navigator, I suggest disregard the instruction for the road from Lucca to Pascoso. Indeed, the road that I have suggested is shorter and more easy !
