Description of the Property - Bed & Breakfast North Conway
The Buttonwood Inn is situated on more than five acres of field and forest on Mt. Surprise just minutes from the villages of North Conway and Jackson. Nationally recognized for our quality of innkeeping, providing the best in service, hospitality and attention to detail, the Inn offers 10 individually decorated guestrooms with a homemade gourmet breakfast.
Whether you are planning a romantic getaway, family vacation, reunion, or retreat, New Hampshire's White Mountains offer a number of attractions and activities for every season, including spectacular mountain views and scenery with covered bridges, white-steepled churches, waterfalls, and moose. In winter, cross-country or downhill skiing, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, sleigh rides, and skating are all nearby. Hiking, biking, canoeing, kayaking, Mt. Washington tours, and our own outdoor heated pool are available in summer. Theatre, over 50 great restaurants nearby, and name-brand outlets for tax-free shopping are available year around.
An 1820s farmhouse, the inn retains its comfortable country atmosphere with wide pine floors, antiques, quilts, and stenciling
The Buttonwood Inn, a Select Registry member since 1999, is one of 25 proud recipients of America's Favorite Inns Award and the subject of the "White Mountain Wonderland" article in Classic American Homes.
Bill is always happy to help you plan your day, offer insights into the area, and share the local way of getting from here to there.
Relax at the Inn with your favorite book. You can watch outside for the appearance of deer, wild turkeys, moose, hawks, or hummingbirds. You can also enjoy the outdoor recreation and area activities available in Mt. Washington Valley. You will find a listing of just some of your choices in our Area Activities section.
Unwind with afternoon tea and home baked treats in front of one of our traditional wood burning fireplaces in either our large living room or the Mt. Surprise Room when days are cool. You can select a spot in the sun or shade in one of our Adirondack chairs or take a dip in our heated pool or soak in our open air hot tub with a view of the mountains and forest by day or stars by night. We'll be glad to help you with dinner plans at one of many area restaurants, which offer everything from local to ethnic cuisine in a casual or fine dining atmosphere.
At different times throughout the year, we offer Special Packages and Events. No matter what season you visit, the range of activities and sight seeing is extensive.
Begin your day with coffee or tea by the fire in our living room or in your guest room. A full gourmet breakfast will be served later at your own table in our dining room.
With over fifty restaurants in the valley, dining options range from ethnic cuisine to the finest in Four Star dining. We'll help find the restaurant that's perfect for you and make reservations where possible. Most are located just minutes away in North Conway Village.
We have retained the country character throughout our 1820s farmhouse with wide pine floors, period stenciling, antiques, and local artists' works. In the cooler months, afternoon tea can be sipped in front of the fire in either our large, but intimate, living room or the more casual ambience of our family room (Mt. Surprise Room). The Mt. Surprise Room is equipped with a bar area, guest refrigerator, TV/VCR/DVD, extensive movie collection, computer with internet access, games, books, and magazines.
Our location in New Hampshire's White Mountains provides an extensive combination of activities ranging from outdoor recreation to attractions, both natural and man-made, to festivals and events, and shopping.
In winter, relax by the fire or in our open air hot tub, or get outside and enjoy trails ideal for snowshoeing and cross country skiing. In summer, hike these same trails or enjoy our own 20' x 40' heated inground pool or open air hot tub surrounded by some of the Inn's award-winning gardens.
