'Casa Las Jaras' is a newly constructed villa with private pool (8 x 4m; 1.3 - 1,9 m deep.). It has a delightful feeling of comfortable seclusion about it -yet it is perfectly situated for visits to the Málaga coast, while the historic city of Granada would make an excelelent day trip. It sands near the old Moorish village of Archez, approximately 30 minutes from the coast, and is set in the magnificent landscape of the Sierra Tejeda mountains, surrounded by vine-covered hills and a valley sweeping down to the sparkling blue sea in the distance. The surrounding area offers excellent opportunities for walking, particularly in the cooler months and Spring.

The front shaded terrace has a built-in barbecue at one end and is ideal for outside dining whilst enjoying the panoramic views of the countryside (Natural Park). The Natural Park 'Sierra Tejeda-Almijara' is a carefully preserved area of spectacularly natural beauty teeming with wildlife including deer, mountain goats, hawks and eagles. As well as heaven for nature-lovers, the park is also a walker's paradise. For a day on the beach, the delightul resort of Nerja is not far away - the town offers a choice of sandy beaches, and a visit to its famous caves is also well worthwile.
'Casa Las Jaras' and the swimming pool area in particular, is in an enviable location, taking full advantage of the sweeping scenery and the hot AndalucÃan sun, tempered throughout this area by the altitude and the fresh mountain breezes. Its geographical location and the beauty of its scenery, makes this area a wonderful place for a holiday at any time of year.

Everyone knows of Andalusia but many people have never been to this magical land. Our friendly people, our impressive nature, our rivers, our beaches, our Mediterranean cuisine, our wine, our whitewashed villages, our arabic heritage, our rich folckore and our culture. Our home. Your home.
Fancy a walking holiday in Spain? Want to go hiking in Andalucia? The village Salares is located in the boundaries of the Natural Park Sierra Tejeda Almijara. This large and rugged mountainous region of more than 42000ha stretches across the provincial border of Granada and Malaga. Its western part in Malaga province is known as the Axarquía and is famous for its attractive villages dating from Moorish times. It is also superb hiking country and its numerous steep mountainsides make it ideal for climbers. Its highest peak is La Maroma, at 2,080m.
You will find a number of spectacular walks here. Walks vary from easy to difficult with the highest point being La Maroma, so therefore the region can easily cater for all tastes and abilities.
Geologically, the area has some distinctive features. It is rich in quartzite and gneiss, which date from over 300 million years ago. The Sierra Almijara has one of Spains's most important areas of dolomitic marble, which gives the landscape its characteristic grey and white hues where erosion has broken down the marble into small stones. The main rock in the Sierra Tejeda is limestone, which has been severely weathered leaving a lanscape riddled with steep-sided ravines and plunging cliff faces.
The landscape is striking from the coast to the mountains. The area is blessed with a beautiful coastline, high summits, dramatic crags, wonderfully deep ravines, delightful rivers and all this in one region! The walking is truly wonderful.
Its relative remote nature has meant that it has a high number of endemic species of flora and is rich in wildlife, particularly raptors and mountain birds.
When is the best time to visit? Well, it is very difficult to say, as each season produces something new to see and everyone's expectations of the weather is different. We can however dismiss July and August as it is really too hot to enjoy any type of inland walking. From mid September we can start to walk again, taking us all the way through to mid June. A great deal of the time we are blessed with blue skies, abundant sunshine and wonderfully shaped clouds, but it does rain in Spain. During the months from mid November to mid February you are more likely to need your waterproof jacket but hopefully only for the odd day.
The photographs shown below have been taken a few minutes' drive away from the property. The area is breathtakingly beautiful and has not been taken over by tourism. Move away from the coast line and the main attractions are the dramatic hills and mountains with the wonderful scenery they offer and also the unspoilt, white villages which are a pleasure to visit and stroll through whilst soaking up the local atmosphere.
Spaniards in general are not great walkers, although the scope for hiking here is immense. So it often happens that while walking a whole day in a fantastic area, you won’t encounter any other walker.
We hope to see you soon in Salares for an unforgettable walking holiday!.
A detailed itinerary from Malaga Airport to the property is provided.
