Helensburgh on the Clyde estuary welcomes its visitors with a charming Victorian flair and architecture, tree lined streets, a lively town centre with a variety of shops and a seafront promenade. During the summer months there are regular pipe band performances and highland dancing displays on the seafront or in Colquhoun Square. The last sea going paddle steam ship in the world, the “Waverley” calls at Helensburgh pier on its way to Dunoon, Arran or Carrick Castle.
“The Hill House” is a fine domestic creation by famous Scottish artist Charles Rennie Macintosh with the help of his wife, Margaret MacDonald.
Garemount Lodge is 4 miles north west of Helensburgh, on the Gareloch. Take the A814 from Helensburgh towards Garelochead. After 2 miles pass through the village of Rhu. In Shandon, take the Ardchapel turnoff (it's the one shortly after the Queenspoint/Stuckenduff turnoff). Turn immediate left onto a slip road. It's the second entrance along and the first house up the drive.
Call at the main entrance to the house (up the wooden steps) so that I can show you around your accommodation which adjoins the main house.
