3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms one en suite, several terraces and solarium, villa sleeps six with a floor area of 190 square meters (roughly 2000 sq.ft.). About 1000 sq.meters of private enclosed garden with pine trees and flowers. Swimming pool in the patio. Parking space for two cars (one enclosed).
'La siesta' golf course and sports complex with tennis courts less than a kilometer away in the 'sitio de calahonda' complex. 150 meters from shops. 300 meters from sandy beach with beds and restaurant.
Marbella city road-post half a kilometer westward on the 'autovia'.
Excelent faicilities. Pets considered.
Details of this villa in Spain : independance without loneliness
'An andalucian style' villa in an area with private homes only bordering a pine forest.
The three of us have set 'Hacienda los pinos' on a one acre enclosed plot : a U-shaped andalucian sstyle building is built around a tile floor patio, so that no room window opens on it.
Each home enjoys its own private garden : ours is stricty enclosed by 2 meter-high walls covered with flowers that surge high over it while some thirty mediterranean pine trees protect it from too much sun (a gardener maintains it all year around). An outside shower allows one to refresh without going in the interior.
Our villa is perfectly organised to receive six persons with one double-bed room with its fully equipped bathroom en suite (wash basin, bath, bidet, shower, toilet) plus two twin-bed rooms on the first floor share an aslo fully equipped bathroom and a terrace surrounded by flowers up to 1.6 meter, so protected from outside view.
On the second an top floor a solarium with a domineering view all around.
Marble floors throughout except on all the terraces with tile-style floors. Most of our furniture is of old spanish style.
On the ground floor apart from the 'master bedroom' the living room and dining room open on the covered terraces with wall-sized bay windows : these and the open sky terrace at the same level have stairs going down in the garden, facing southwards. The sea further away.
All necessary linen including beach towels are supplied.
Every modern appliance is available in the kitchen as well as two electric boilers for hot water, electric heaters with thermostat on the walls for the cold nights in every room and built-in fans in the upstairs bedrooms for hot summer nights.
There is a fireplace in the lounge with ample pinewood supply ; also a brick built-in barbecue at the heart of the ground floor terraces ; also a common toilet with a wash basin and washing machine on the same level.
The swimming pool (about six by twelve meters and various depths) with roman steps is facing the pine forest. There is ample room for the six beachbeds : we share it with the couple of spanish lawyers and their three children (when they are not working-week days ! or away on holiday) and a couple of mature englishmen when they fly over (about a week every other month, so far). This pool is maintained all year around by professionals.
All water and sea sports are available in both Marbella and Fuengirola.
We maintain our telephone in 'reduced' service, so that the tenants can be called at 'normal' rates and they can use it for local emergencies.
You can drive down to the beach or walk without crossing of any road.
Within a two minutes walk, there is a 'small' commercial center where are located two small supermarkets offering everything one needs including fresh meat, fruits and vegetables, plus tobacco and newspapers shop, one pizza grill and a chinese restaurant, three banks with ATM, public phones with credit cards, video shop, etc...
At KM 197 of the autovia (we are at KM 196), the large commercial center with at least a dozen restaurants of all countries, bar and shopping of all kinds. It also offers a mini market open every day including sunday from 9am to 9pm.
If the center of the city of Marbella is roughly 15 minutes away by car, perto banus and the famous 'golden mile' are only a few minutes further away. There are about 40 golf courses within 30 kms of our house.
For mountain lovers and skiers, the 'Sierra Nevada' ski resort is roughly three hours driving by toll free autopista with a skiing season that goes from Chistmas to Easter. Downtown Granada stands at the foot of the resort. One can ski down from the top 'veleta' at 3500m to 'Prado llano' at 2100m. There are also lots of hotels and restaurants (more than ten thousand beds in the resort...)
Transportation to Calahonda
Air :
- Malaga international airport is 30 kms away eastward without a single traffic light to our house.
- Gibraltar also has an airstrip from and to england... it is 50 kms away westwards by toll highway.
Road :
- The highway that borders the Calahonda area is 'four lane' to the rest of Europe through either side of the Pyrenees, partly free, partly toll. The toll highway exit is one mile uphill from us.
- The coastline autovia (also four lane) has an exit at 'KM 196' downhill a few hundred yard from us passing our small commercial center called 'los cipreses'.
Public transportation :
There is a railway shuttle from Malaga airport to the city of Fuengirola where its connects with a bus line that links that city with Marbella and stops at 'our' MK 196.
