    Location

In Kastel Sucurac you can find the oldest defensive tower that was built in 1392. by archbishop A. Gvaldo to protect peasants of Putalj village, located on the slopes of Kozjak around the church of St. George. Additional building formed a settlement by the sea. That is where Archbishop Averaldo built his mansion in 1488 and which reached its final form of Citadel in 1509. The oldest center of Sucurac is called Kastilac - a yard of fortified palace villa which south wall contains lavishly decorated windows in the High Gothic style. Unlike other villages here a square is formed on the south side of the mansion. Today, there is an exhibition space "Podvorje" in which parts of archeological artifacts from Putalj are stored. Kastel Sucurac is the starting point of a marked hiking trail that leads to Grand rock, the mountain house Putalj (480m), trail to the door on the ridge Kozjak and west to St. Luke (690m). Hospitable people will provide comfortable accommodation in rooms and apartments for tourists who come to Kastel Sucurac.
