Private vacation rentals in Chianti

The Chianti region is the perfect place for travel between medieval villages, romantic vineyards and characteristic hilly landscapes. In every small town you can come across wineries, castles and farms and taste the fine wine in one of the many wine bars. The origins, full of a legendary history, and winemaking tradition have made the area the Clante (in Etruscan name of a stream) famous all over the world.
For those coming from Florence the natural gateway to the land of wines is Impruneta, full of monuments, including the embattled bell tower of the thirteenth century, the Basilica of Santa Maria and the adjacent Museum of the Treasury. Two events of international importance: the grape festival with a parade of floats, and the fair of St. Luke, both take place in autumn.

Behind Florence to Siena, a must is the old medieval town of Greve in Chianti, with its ancient and unique triangular square, bordered by buildings, porches and balconies, all converging towards the Church of Santa Croce.
The square is home to September the most important shows in the Chianti wine. It dominates the city from the castle of Montefioralle, ancient fortified town.
Meets then Volpaia, picturesque medieval town built around a castle and ancient center of winemaking.

Nearby is Radda, developed around the fourteenth century church of San Nicol˛ and the majestic palace praetorian (1415 approximately). To visit the church of San Giusto in Salcio, located in a lush valley between the vineyards, and the parish church of Santa Maria Novella, with its characteristic Romanesque fašade. Just outside Radda another obligatory stop is the Chianti Classico Wine Consortium with the Historical Studies Center Chianti.

Continuing the journey to the pass of the Chianti hills, you first meet Gaiole, one of the most popular in Italy, and then countless farms and castles, such as San Leonino and Fonterutoli.
Past the town of Siena, of particular historical are the thirteenth-century Monteriggioni, built on top of a hill and with a massive city walls, and Castellina, Siena outpost of Etruscan origin with the beautiful central square across from the medieval Via delle Volte.
Finally, a stop in the splendid Poggibonsi where in October there is an event that recurs the ancient technique of crushing grapes of the hilly areas, and Montespertoli for the annual exhibition of the Chianti.
