Alquileres de vacaciones privadas en Isla Cristina At West of Isla Cristina 1) The town of Ayamonte (10 km West from Isla Cristina) is worth to visit, to have a coffee or a lunch or dinner at the Parador de Turismo with beatiful views on the town, the river Guadiana (the border between Spain and Portugal) and the towns of Castro Marin and Vila Real de San Atonio in Portugal. You can see the Parador in the top of a hill on the left side of the higway when you drive towards Portugal and just before the international bridge on the river Guadiana. At this point, you can leave the highway following Ayamonte indications, then follow indications to Parador. Afterwards, visit the old, white and top part of the town (close to Parador) and then going dowhill visit downtown Ayamonte, where some nice streets, squares, restaurants, bars (good tapas), etc will appear. 2) The town of Vila Real de San Antonio (the second town at the Portuguese side of the river Guadiana after crossing the international bridge) is a British old fashioned town, very active from commercial point of view. A lot of Spaniards arrive every day by ferry crossing the river or by car for buying different items, mainly clothes, jewels, craftsmanship, etc. 3) Following the highway to the West in Portugal and after about 90 km driving, it is the town of Lagos, very interesting for visiting, old, hystorical, very typical and with a lot of very nice shops and antiques. At 1-2 km West from Lagos there is a beatiful site named Punta Piedade with impressive clifs, views, a lighthouse and very nice small beaches (Don Camilo, Ana). Don Camilo is our favourite beach (however there are so many stairs!). At Punta Piedade it is possible to take a boat for visiting the rocks and clifs from the sea.
