Set in beautiful rolling countryside between the spectacular Lakeland Fells and the majestic North Pennines lies the unspoilt picturesque village of Gamblesby. Church Court Cottages are situated around a private courtyard directly opposite St John's church. The Barn sleeps four people in two bedrooms (one double, one twin) and has a large open-plan living area upstairs with views over the surrounding North Pennines hills. The upstairs area has an original vaulted and beamed ceiling and is a great space for relaxing on it's two comfortable sofas for reading, playing a game, watching a DVD or your favourite programme on the TV. A wood-burning stove adds to the cosy comfort of The Barn. The well equipped kitchen has a good range of appliances including a dishwasher, microwave, electric oven with hob and fridge/freezer. All cutlery, crockery and utensils are provided. The dining table is extendable in case extra guests stay for a meal, and a highchair is available for our younger visitors. Downstairs, you will find the two bedrooms (a double and a twin) along with the fully tiled shower room. A washing machine and tumble dryer are located under the stairs. The pretty double bedroom with a beamed ceiling and furnished in pine has a comfortable double bed, along with a spacious wardrobe and chest of drawers providing plenty of storage and hanging space. The window looks out over the rear garden and Fells. The twin bedroom also has a beamed ceiling and similar views over the rear garden with its abundance of birdlife and the family hens that provide freshly laid eggs for visitors ! The shower room is fully tiled and has a walk in shower, and was recently refurbished with a new sink and toilet. Outside, the paved courtyard provides ample seating with it's two picnic benches and lawn area from which to take in the surroundings and enjoy the tranquility of this peaceful village. A parking space is allocated for each cottage.
